I went there on November 30 because we had a field trip so it was that Thursday, November 30, 2023 so I went to school at 7:30 and I had breakfast at the benches. The whole fourth graders had breakfast, and then we went to the bus and para backpacks underneath the bus.

cant wait for camp ive been there last year in wish haven cabin! cant wait for this year !!

Thank you for this trip down memory lane. I, too, grew up in GSSG but back then it was DeAnza Council. I graduated from Senior Girl Scouts the year the councils merged. And, I remember celebrating Girl Scouts 50 years when I was ten. Did my CIT at AT and loved going up there whenever we had the chance. Our Senior troop was very active and I use the skills I learned then to this day.

Besides choosing a nick-name for myself, I gave other counselors, etc. their nick-names that could not think of a name like Cookie for the camp cook, Kool-aid for our camp nurse and for our camp director, we all called her Smokey.

Skyland ranch formerly belonged to the Greater Long Beach Girl Scout Council. It is a great camp! I spent time there during the summer months. The care-keeper was a old guy named "Bill" that lived across the road from the camp. I hope that he and his family are well. In these days of modern technology, I wish that MORE kids, especially inner-city kids, had the oppirtunity to go to camp for at least two weeks. It really does "round one out."

i was up at skyland ranch 60 years ago with my family as part of the clean up crew to set up camp. we stayed at the big farm house with other families from long beach troops. great fun. loved the crab apple orchards.

I just finished mine! My advice though is don't wait till the last second like I did! Get started on an idea for your project as soon as you can. ~:~

I loved Skyland! My family and I went for my birthday. The only problem I had with is that they're are really long hikes back to the cabins we we went sky gazing. Other than that it was amazing! I got so sad when they had camp names and I didn't get to have one so, I named my self twisler and told my friends who cam with me to call me that.

I'm an old head now. I was as CIT and then counselor "back in the day" at Skyland Ranch. Our CD was a sister named "Ivory,"our camp cook was named Cookie and then there was 'Hondo, Candy Benny and Goldie. And at the end of every two weeks, we were all able to take a "24!"Talk about good times! From nature walks, to archery to arts 'n crafts, there was so much to do! If I ever have a chance to return for a camp reunion to meet up with my crew, I'd be the first one there! If you are a parent, please give your daughter (or your son) the experience of scouting, hiking, and camping. You won't be able to thank yourself. enough!

I was at Camp Azalea Trails till yesterday for TIC 1 but i had the pleasure of meeting all of the counselors at a council meeting.... When i become counselor, i will want to at least see sky land because i heard its really amazing....

Nice movie scouts! But one error, 2 min 39 sec, CITO is actually cleaning up the park, leaving no trash, so bring gloves and a trash bag and clean up stuff that is litter on the way to the car/home/parking lot and make the world a better place! thanks!

i really love the idea of a new camp but i'm loyal to azalea trails (whoop CIT 1) AND AS MY LAST YEAR of camp i want to go to familiarity..... but i really would love to see what this new property has in store for the future because i'm going to be eligible to become a counselor next year...

I just had really intense nostalgia for "Nature at Night" Girl Scout camps in the summer when I was younger. I went as a camper and then a counselor for years. Loved getting to sport my "Pocahontas feather" from archery at dinner, tie my hairband as tribute to the cross on Timber Peak, listen to critters walk by my outdoor bunk at night, echo GS songs around the mountainside, learn about Southern California natural history and astronomy, and gorge on delicious food with my best GS friends in the dining hall. Some of my best memories are at this camp!

Just miss seeing some money views from Timber Peak or Castle Rocks. ;) <3 "Skyland, oh Skyland, our hearts will always be with you in these mountains beneath the tall green trees."
